‘LifeLines’ Launch with Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance

We were delighted to be part of the launch day for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance's LifeLines project.

Emily and Frances from the STEM NOW Team attended the event at Bohunt School in Liphook. The LifeLines Programme offers 11-18 year olds a glimpse into the daily life of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Critical Care Team, with the aim to inspire, motive and raise aspirations of our future generation.

As it was World Space Week Emily and Frances had great fun teaching the students with Winchester Science Centre's Destination Space resources. Students learnt about how astronauts fix the ISS without doing spacewalks and practised their skills on the robot arm, ably enticed with the prize of keeping any sweets they picked up with the arm. Students also got the chance to see solar cells, astronaut food and put on a Sokol suit (which is worn during launch to, and return from the International Space Station (ISS)).
