Experience STEM NOW
STEM NOW has decades of experience in inspiring young people to consider Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) in their future. Our vision is simple - STEM is for all!
We want every young person to have the opportunity to get involved with STEM, through multi-faceted engagement with STEM role models and sustained STEM projects. This will enable each child to reach their full STEM potential.
Who We Are
Here at STEM NOW, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. Our decision making process is informed by comprehensive empirical studies and high quality data evaluation. We strive to build productive relationships and make a positive impact with all of our pursuits.
We work with four key stakeholders; STEM industry, STEM academia, educators (from both formal and informal education) and young people.
STEM Ambassador Hub
The STEM NOW team have delivered the STEM Ambassador Programme, first for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and then for the Central South England Hub area (Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire) since 2008.
Working with the largest cohort of STEM volunteers in Europe we work to inspire young people to study STEM subjects and open up the many opportunities available to them in STEM industries and careers.
STEM Sector and Teacher CPD
We deliver STEM sector and teacher CPD. We specialise in diversity and equality training, for all our stakeholders.
Working with WISE, we also deliver People Like Me training. Developed by the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) campaign, the People Like Me approach is an initiative designed to speak to girls aged 11-14 on their terms and demonstrate that STEM is very much for “people like them”
Working with partners, we have delivered bespoke computing CPD for Teachers. Giving them industry experience as well as new skills in coding and computing at the IBM Summer School
The STEM NOW team have been delivering the CREST Awards Programme in Hampshire since 2007. CREST Awards are coordinated by the British Science Association and give students an opportunity to get to grips with a hands-on STEM projects whilst equipping them with the necessary skills they will need for a career in STEM.
Projects can take place in both a formal and informal education setting and these Awards are recognised by UCAS as examples of outstanding project work.
STEM NOW is also responsible for supporting and establishing STEM school networks throughout the South of England.
We actively collaborate with the Royal Academy of Engineering Teacher Networks, the Maths Hubs, Computing at School Networks and many more.
In addition, we also promote the iSTEM+ initiative to establish iSTEM+ clusters to bring together local secondary schools, primary schools, FE institutions and local businesses and industries.
The ultimate goal of these networks is to establish an effective and organised means of sharing best practice and resources, developing joint challenges and activities, generating links between schools and employers and ultimately, to inspire and engage young people with a wide variety of STEM opportunities.
"I just wanted to thank you so much for giving up your time last Tuesday to support our school. We really appreciate your support. The students found the sessions really useful and I am in no doubt this will influence their career choices in the future."
